Rumor: The Knicks are in negotiations for Dwight Howard in exchange for Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire never played well together anyway.
Sources inside the Orlando Magic are rumored to be working out a deal that would send Dwight Howard to New York in exchange for both Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler. As improbable as this would have seemed at the beginning of the year, the results are in and Stoudemire and Anthony simply don't have on-the-court games that fit well together.
Would Dwight Howard's skills fit well with Anthony? Many people think this is a great fit. For one, Howard is a true center that plays in the post. That might be the exact inside-outside game New York needs to help highlight Anthony's skills. Throw in a couple sharp shooting 3-point specialists that can sit beyond the arc and drain threes when Anthony drives and New York might have a winning formula.
It's easy to see why this trade makes sense for a lot of people involved. The Magic better be looking to deal Howard unless they are 100% confident they can resign him. It would appear difficult to be that confident in a Howard resigning considering his earlier season desire to be dealt. The Knicks are equally as motivated for a trade due to their pathetic record and post-season failures. New York is shelling out way too much money to be the 7 seed in the East and go out in the first round of the playoffs. Their payroll necessitates greater results and so do the fans of New York. This might end up being a great deal for both teams.
