Nash does Gangnam Style!

Nash does Gangnam Style!

In the Lakers 119-108 victory over the Rockets in Los Angeles last night, Kobe Bryant went for a triple-double but it was Steve Nash who stole the show, performing a little Gangnam style from the bench.

Hoopsvibe's quick call:  While Kobe was taking care of business on the court, Nash was tearing it up on the sideline.

Top 10 Reasons Mike D’Antonio Is A Bad Coach For The Lakers.

Top 10 Reasons Mike D’Antonio Is A Bad Coach For The Lakers.

Lakers hire Mike D'Antoni has head coach after they can't land Phil Jackson.

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: This is a horrible decision that will not end well. I feel like I'm watching the movie John Carter in slow motion.

#10 Wrong System. D'Antonio's system did not work in New York with the Knicks where he went 121- 167. These are not the kind of numbers the Lakers are aiming for.

#9 Egos. D'Antonio does not handle big ego players well. He never had to deal with this in Phoenix and struggled with it in New York. He will drown in egos in Los Angeles and be fired by the end of the year.

#8 No Game Plan. It only makes sense to fire Mike Brown after 5 games if you already have a contract in place with Phil Jackson. Since Jackson was not already locked up to coach, this instead looks like Laker management is in a panic. They will really be in a panic when D'Antoni's system takes weeks and months to implement and then realize it's a horrible fit.

#7 Track Recrod. D'Antoni does not have a history of winning big games. He doesn't have any rings nor has he really ever come close. This season will be no different. He failed in Phoenix, he failed in New York, and this season with the most high-powered offense in the league he will fail again.

#6 Horrible Defense. The Lakers have one of the worst defenses in the league right now. This is largely why they are losing. Mike D'Antoni is famous for having teams that guard no one. He is not a defensively minded coach. Be prepared to watch the Lakers give up a lot of 3 diget scoring nights this season.

#5 Jery Sloan. Although I don't think Sloan is a good fit for the Lakers, he is a better fit than D'Antoni. At least Sloan's offense fits the existing Laker personnel and he brings a tough-minded approach to defense the Lakers drastically need.

#4 Brian Shaw. How is Brian Shaw not getting this coaching gig? If Phil Jackson is your number 1 option, Brain Shaw should logically be your number 2. They believe in the same offensive flow. Shaw coached under Jackson in LA and understands the triangle offense and has the respect of most of the existing players. Shaw should be the Laker's coach not D'Antoni.

#3 No Youth and Quickness. D'Antni's system is based on players that are fast up and down the court and quick on and off the ball. I don't know when anyone ever called Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, and Metta World Peace quick.

#2 Wrong Players. Mike D'Antonio has his old point guard back in Steve Nash, but the problem is this is not a fast break team. This is not a run-and-gun team. They have big men that are built more for pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop. Even straight post-ups or some type of triangle offense would be more appropriate for this team. D'Antoni has the wrong group of guys for his system.

#1 Wrong System. Mike D'Antonio's up-tempo style of ball is not conducive to the Laker's personnel. This is a horrible match. His style of offense does not fit the players the Lakers are paying $100 million to have on the floor. This will not end well.

Lakers To Retire Shaq’s Number

Lakers To Retire Shaq’s Number

Lakers to retire Shaq's number.

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Well, we knew Orlando wasn't going to do it.

It's official, the Los Angeles Lakers will retire Shaq's #34. The dedication ceremony will be on April 2. One day earlier and we would have really had some news. I can think of nothing more fitting than a dedication ceremony on April Fools Day.

Most view this as a given. The Lakers needed to retire his number seeing has he will go down in history as one of the best big men ever. His numbers speak for themselves and yet, I can't help but thinking Shaq's a little relieved. It's obviously common knowledge that Shaq left LA feuding with Kobe. Shaq bounced around the league with a number of teams, won a championship in Miami, and grew to accept his role, as a backup center.

His career stats are impressive though. Shaq's a 15-time All-Star, won 4 NBA titles (3 in LA and 1 in Miami), he finished with 28,596 points, (23.7 ppg), 13,099 rebounds (10.9 rpg), and 2,732 blocks (2.3 bpg). These are monster numbers and his per game averages were somewhat deflated by his lengthy exit strategy from the league where he played significantly past his prime and lowered those numbers.

He will be remembered for his on the court dominance, his larger than life personality, and even his off the court antics. His ex-wife has left us with the dubious pop reality of "Basketball Wives" on VH1 and Shaq's transitioned into an NBA analyst.

Ring Girl and Video Vixen Claudia Lopez Sits Down With HoopsVibe

Ring Girl and Video Vixen Claudia Lopez Sits Down With HoopsVibe to discuss Kobe and more.

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: This girl's a die hard Kobe fan. Vanessa better watch out.

She knows her way around a boxing and MMA ring and she's a huge Laker's fan. Sounds like Claudia Lopez has just what it takes to sit down and talk shop with HoopsVibe. Don't let her looks fool you. This girls got one thing on her mind, championships.

HV: Are you a big basketball fan?

Claudia: I love me some Lakers! LA Lakers fan.

HV: Who's your favorite player?

Claudia: Kobe!

HV: Since you're a model men must hit on you all the time. How do you like a man to approach you?

Claudia: I honestly see all men as supporters so I give everyone the chance to conversate. The best way to approach me will be with a civilized conversation rather than flodding me with compliments.

HV: What's your favorite part of your body and why?

Claudia: I love my body as it is. I think all girls should love their bodies as well. My favorite part would be my face and legs.

HV:  What would shock people to know about you they haven't already read?

Claudia: I love onions!

HV: If you could change one thing on your body what would it be.

Claudia: I am honestly confortable with my body the way it is, but if I can magically chance something, it would be my bottoms. I wouldn't mind having a bigger booty.

HV: Are you single? Trust me our readers will want to know lol.

Claudia: Yes, I am single.

HV: How would you describe yourself as a lover? Are you shy or do you like to take charge?

Claudia: I take charge. I'd rather express myself than be shy. I like to speak my mind and allow my parter to know how I feel and what I think rather than keeping quiet. I think that in a relationship it's really important to have strong communication skills and express each other. Shyness won't really work. But who know, It's just an opinion

HV: If you could date one celebrity who would it be and why?

Claudia: Wentworth Miller, Michael Ealy, Josh Duhamel. They are simply amazing! I love them all. If I had one of them I'd live happy.

Odom Traded to Los Angeles

Odom Traded to Los Angeles

Odom traded to Los Angeles

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Lamar loves LA. Now let's see if he can still play ball.

Lamar is headed back to Los Angeles, but not back to the Lakers. He's heading back to his original LA team, the Clippers. The only difference is this time they actually have a descent team. This is all part of a three team deal. The Clippers, Mavs, and Jazz all have their hands in the cookie jar in this trade.

The trade sends Odom to the Clippers and Mo Williams to the Jazz. The Jazz are capable of absorbing Williams's $8.5 million price tag due to an $8.2 million trade exception, similar to the one that brought Odom from the Lakers to Dallas last season.

The deal hinges on Williams exercising his $8.5 million player option for next season, but sources say Williams is game. The Clippers are clearly banking on the fact that having Lamar back in LA where he feels comfortable, he will be able to bounce back to his 2010-2011 form as the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year and not his 6 points per game form in Dallas. The Jazz are happy to get their hands on Williams's 13.2 points per game as Mo is known as an offensive machine.

Lakers Ramon Sessions Looking To Leave LA.
Wednesday , Jun , 20 , 2012 HoopsVibe News

Lakers Ramon Sessions Looking To Leave LA.

Lakers' Ramon Sessions entering free agency.

HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: Sessions smells that the Lakers are in a tough position and he's smart to levarage it for more money.

Los Angeles guard Ramon Sessions is declining his one-year option for 2012-2-13 and instead looking to test the free agent waters. He's clearly hoping to garner more than the $4.55 million option the Lakers had on the table.

Sessions had a productive year with Los Angeles averaging 12.7 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 23 regular-season games. The Lakers need his speed and quickness both on offense and defense. They will be forced to still try and sign him through free agency, but would likely have to pay more.

LA traded long time point guard Derek Fisher away last off-season, due to his declining lateral mobility and will be in a bad situation if they can't resign Sessions for a reasonable amount of money. They've still got Gasol as an option to trade, but the problem is they don't have much money to play with and the number of quality guards available this off-season with comparable quickness are few.
