[vid] Cavs Fans Buy Billboard Asking LeBron to Stay

Cavaliers fans have designed and purchased a billboard encouraging LeBron James to remain with Cleveland.

Glen Infante's website, realcavsfans.com has more than 7 thousand loyal followers.

"There's a campaign where New Yorkers were gathering money to buy LeBron a gift when he arrives in New York And a lot of members were real angry about that and we wanted to respond to that," said Infante.

"It's hard to contact him, send him an email, or even a big sign in the crowd, you know. You only get a small chance to see that sign. But a billboard, he'll definitely see a billboard on the streets of Cleveland."

John Wall Likely to Sign with LeBron James’ Marketing Firm

LeBron James befriended John Wall at his All-American camp as a high school senior, traveled to campus to watch him play and even enlisted rapper Drake to woo John Wall to LRMR, James’ fledgling marketing company.

Multiple NBA, agent and sneaker industry sources say Wall is close to partnering with the firm.

James’ childhood friend, Maverick Carter, is the CEO of LRMR and responsible for running his management company. Carter’s had a consistent presence with Wall’s AAU coach and surrogate, Brian Clifton, for months, and Clifton offered nothing to dispute the word of sources who say James and Wall are going into business together.
Clifton insisted there’s nothing “formal in place” with LRMR, and an announcement wouldn’t happen until Wall completes paperwork to enter the draft.

Insiders Say LeBron Closer to Re-Signing with Cavs

However, as the Cavs finish off the best record in the NBA for a second consecutive year and James prepares to win his second Most Valuable Player Award, something is indeed happening.

After being mostly neutral and downright noncommittal for some time, those closest to James have been altering their view recently. The vibe being sent out from James' camp -- whether it is private conversations or discussions about new business or plans for the near future -- is that James currently is leaning strongly toward re-signing with the Cavs.

That may sound vague and, as always, it continues to be fragile. Yet there is no denying the gradual shift within James' circle and, it is assumed, by James himself.

James has declined to talk publicly about free agency since November. But as one source said, "I have never been so sure that he's going to stay in Cleveland than I am right now."

Jeff Van Gundy: LeBron James WIll Win MVP Every Year Until He Retires

With more than a hint of sarcasm, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy gave his opinion on Sunday about the MVP race this season and beyond.

"You know how the vote's going to go. LeBron (James) will win the MVP every year until he retires," Van Gundy said.

Van Gundy was likely playing to the Cleveland media. But there's part of him that feels that the MVP — decided by the media — will be James' award to lose for a long time.

"LeBron has to go into the year and basically lose the MVP. You guys have decided he's the MVP," Van Gundy said.

"I don't even know if Michael Jordan was as hyped as he is, and then [James] goes out and exceeds it."

Van Gundy says that fans and media "view players primarily as scorers … and view most everything else as secondary," meaning they overlook Van Gundy's guy, Dwight Howard, the favorite to repeat as defensive player of the year.

The NBA’s 50 Worst Tattoos

You wouldn't believe the number of inky abominations etched into the pelts of pro ballers.  I'd originally planned a simple list of the league's ten worst tats, but when my dishonourable mention section hit double digits I realised I'd need to expand the scope of the project a little.  Even when I elongated the list to twenty-five terrible tattoos, I still found that I had to exclude some real atrocities.  In the end it took a full fifty spots to showcase the shittiest skin art in the L.

LeBron: I Don’t Respect Colangelo’s Olympics Comments

"There are no free passes to London," Colangelo told Yahoo! Sports shortly after James made his statements on Wednesday.

"There are no special rules for anyone. If someone decides to pass [the World Championships] without a legit issue, they do it with an understanding of the risk."

James was clearly upset by the statements and reacted strongly on Sunday.

"There's a lot that goes on with being a professional athlete other than just basketball," he said. "I think everyone in the USA knows what type of commitment these guys have made, including myself, since 2003. I'm not trying to bash Jerry or anything like that because he's a good guy and I respect him. [But] I don't respect that [statement] because of the commitment we've all given to the USA."

Boozer: I Think LeBron Is Going to Stay

Free-agent-to-be Carlos Boozer sounded intrigued about joining Mike D'Antoni's Knicks, but believes if he comes to New York, it won't be in a star tandem with LeBron James.

Boozer and James were Cleveland teammates for King James' rookie year. Boozer left Cleveland the first chance he got -- for a multi-year contract with Utah in 2004. But Boozer doesn't think James will leave his hometown.

"I think LeBron's going to stay," Boozer said before scoring 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting with 14 rebounds in Utah's 103-98 victory last night over the Knicks at EnergySolutions Arena.

"That's my gut. They're doing everything they can to build him a championship. His biggest thing is winning a ring. I think his best chance to win a ring is probably where he's at."

The Big Appeal: why Kobe Bryant and LeBron James like New York Knicks

Why leave a championship contender for an organization years away from contending?

This is the question Kobe Bryant and LeBron James will face if either leaves the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers as an unrestricted free agent this summer to sign with the dysfunctional New York Knicks.

LeBron James: If I Wanted, I Could Win Scoring Title Every Year

Durant has already said he thinks James will win. James says he doesn't care and, if he did, he'd win the scoring race every year.

"If it happens, it happens, it is not important to me at all," said James, who won the scoring title in the 2007-08 season and at 27.8 points a game is currently the active leader in career scoring average.

"Our team is trying to clinch (homecourt advantage) for the whole playoffs and is more important. If I really wanted to, I if really wanted to win the scoring title I could win it every single year," James said. "Every single year, I could really do it. But it doesn't matter to me."

LeBron Is Keeping an Eye on Danilo Gallinari

Gallinari, who was limited to just 28 games as a rookie due to a back injury that eventually required surgery, has been inconsistent this season. Three weeks ago, Mike D'Antoni criticized Gallinari for his lackluster play, but recently he's been one of the Knicks' most consistent players.

Gallinari's development is crucial for several reasons. He's one of the few Knicks under contract for next season, and his presence could either hurt or help the team recruit a significant free agent this summer. In November, when the Cavs made their one and only visit to the Garden this season, a LeBron James confidant pointed at Gallinari and said "LeBron wants to see how this kid does this year."

After the game, LeBron approached Gallinari to offer encouragement and advised him to make sure he stretches his back before every game. Jordan was never that chummy with Kukoc.

LeBron James to Ink New Deal with Nike

LeBron James has one major free agent decision nearly settled.

James hinted on Sunday that he was close to agreeing to a long-term extension with Nike to continue to be one of their top pitchmen. James' original seven-year contract that paid him in excess of $100 million with bonuses is set to expire in a couple of months.

"I don't plan on going anywhere, maybe I already have a agreement," James said perhaps not wanting to take away from a formal announcement. "I take care of my business on and off the court."

Could Joe Johnson Lure LeBron to Knicks?

ESPN NBA analyst Ric Bucher quoted a league source yesterday when he said that LeBron James might be more interested in coming to the Knicks if they have Hawks' shooting guard Joe Johnson.

"If it's LeBron James they want," Bucher said, "a league source says the Hawks' shooting guard is a very good place to start."

Granger: If I Were LeBron, I’d Go to New York

Granger was then asked who he would pick for MVP.

"I’d have to go with LeBron," said Granger. "Without him, they (the Cavs) probably wouldn’t win that many games. But with him, they are pretty much unstoppable. I think he’s one of the most unstoppable forces in the NBA.

Granger was then asked if he expects LeBron to re-sign with Cleveland or sign with New York.

"If I was LeBron, I’d go to New York," said Granger.

"New York is the media mecca as far as endorsements and being able to expand your personnel net worth. The exposure you can get there isn’t only nationally but globally. New York does all that for you."
