The Hornets are taking center Chris Kaman off the trade market for now and will permit him to return to the team, league sources confirmed Friday afternoon.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Chris, we tried to trade you, we failed, and, for now, we want you back. Make no mistake about it, we’re still trying to trade you, though.
But no hard feelings, right?
This was how the New Orleans Hornets’ discussion with center Chris Kaman probably went. Last week, the Hornets politely banished Kaman from the team until a trade could be reached, citing a need to play younger posts.
Problem is, they couldn’t swing a trade, so Kaman returned.
This is a short-term audition, not a long-term partnership. Management will showcase Kaman for a possible deal before the trade deadline, as the post will leave via free agency if he finishes the season in New Orleans.
So Kaman and the Hornets have reunited. Just not for long.
