Recap and Highlights for December 4

Suns 97, Mavericks 112

Not long ago, a game between Phoenix and Dallas was must see TV. Last night, it was a game between two teams that are hovering near .500, that are a shadow of what they once were. It was a game that wasn’t really close, but wasn’t exactly a blowout either. Dallas did come out on top, though, for their eighth win in nine games. Dirk Nowitzki scored 37 of his 39 points in the first three quarters and he threw in nine rebounds for good measure. J.J. Barea scored 18 points in his first start of the season and Jason Terry continued his stellar play off the bench with 19 points. Amare Stoudemire scored 28 for the Suns and Steve Nash put in 20 and 10 assists. This is Phoenix’s fourth straight loss.

Spurs 108, Nuggets 91

When the Spurs are healthy, they’re a pretty good ball club. Last night, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker were both in the starting lineup, giving everyone a glimpse of what is to come. Things look promising. Just ask the Nuggets, who were on the business end of a 17-point drubbing. Parker led San Antonio with 22 points and eight assists. Tim Duncan had a great all-around game with 21 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks. Ginobili added 21 points of his own. The Spurs have won five of their last seven games. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 16 points. Denver was outrebounded by 14 in the game and outshot by six percent.
