UNLV’s Spoonhour resigns from men’s hoops post
Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) – UNLV head men’s basketball coach
Charlie Spoonhour resigned Tuesday citing health concerns, thus ending his
three-year tenure at the school.
Spoonhour’s assistant coach and son, Jay, will serve as the program’s interim
coach.
The Runnin’ Rebels recently completed a three-game road trip in which they
lost all three, including a 94-60 drubbing at Missouri on Sunday in front of a
national television audience.
Spoonhour compiled a 54-31 record in his three years at UNLV, including
identical 21-11 marks in his first two seasons. He had previously coached at
Southwest Missouri State from 1983-92 and Saint Louis from 1992-99.
