Shaq tells Kimmel ‘the Celtics would be a good program’
The 38-year-old O’Neal stressed to Kimmel that he’s on a "730-day program," suggesting he wants to play two more years until he reaches 40. When Kimmel suggested he couldn’t picture O’Neal in a Boston uniform, O’Neal responded, "The Celtics would be a good program."
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: In any arms race, you need weapons.
The Boston Celtics – who are in an arms race with Eastern Conference foes like the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic – could use another post weapon because Kendrick Perkins is recovering from a knee injury and Rasheed Wallace recently retired.
Enter Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq could start or come off the bench. He could plug the middle against bigger centers and provide offense down-low.
The problem would be defense. The Celtics are a defensive-minded, get-stops team, and the future Hall of Famer has never been strong in his own end.
Still, veteran sideline boss Doc Rivers should inspire O’Neal to play a little defense.
All in all, O’Neal wouldn’t be a bad weapon for the green-and-white to have in reserve.
