Doctors Diagnose Pau Gasol With Plantar Fasciitis.

Lakers doctors officially diagnosed Pau Gasol with Plantar Fasciitis. What does this mean for the rest of his season?

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Yes, this is real and with a name like that it sounds serious.

Although the diagnosis of Plantar Fasciitis sounds daunting it’s really no big deal. Gasol was diagnosed with it this week and will likely not miss any additional time due to it. What is Plantar Fasciitis? It’s basically an inflammation of the thick tissue at the bottom of the foot. An MRI the Lakers doctors performed this week revealed the condition, but Gasol is still expected to play on Friday.

This tissue on Gasol’s foot that is inflamed is the tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch of the foot. Although the Lakers will certainly continue to monitor the situation, doctors are already stating they don’t expect to impact either Gasol’s short term playing time this season or his long-term career.
