Rondo To Return This Year. Garnett Vetoes Trade To Denver, But Leaves It Open For One Team.

Rajon Rondo’s ACL tear wasn’t as bad as first thought. Garnett vetoes a trade deal with Denver, but leaves it open for someone else.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: The Boston Celtics have more drama going on than a telenovela these days. Even if Rondo returns this season, it’s hard to see Boston emerging from the East.

Rajon Rondo’s agent, Bill Duffy, told reporters on Thursday that Rondo’s injury is not believed to be only a partial ACL tear and not the complete tear initially diagnosed. This is a huge break for the Celtics who could see Rondo return this season. There is a huge difference between partial ACL tears and complete ACL tears.

No definitive timeline has been established for Rondo’s return to the Celtics, but Boston fans now have hope that the entire season isn’t lost.

“It’s still too early to tell for sure,” Bill Duffy told “But we are very optimistic about his return now that we know his injury is only a partial tear and not a full tear.”

One of the many great things about being a premiere player in the NBA is having a “No Trade” clause in your contract. This is something Kevin Garnett is intimately familiar with these days. KG reportedly exercised his veto over a potential recent trade to the Denver Nuggets. Garnett’s loyalty to the Celtics in unwavering, although rumors have recently circulated that he might consider letting a trade go through if it involved his landing on the streaking Clippers.
