This summer Clippers big man Lamar Odom has had two alleged mistresses step forward and admit affairs. Odom also flipped out while being perused by the paparazzi while allegedly being caught with one of the mistresses.

Reports have now surfaced that the root cause of Odom's issues is based on an addiction to "hardcore recreational drugs."

From TMZ:

Lamar has had a problem for 2 years.  It got so bad, last August Khloe pressured Lamar to go to rehab.  Lamar went to a facility in San Diego, but he was so resistant Khloe hired private investigators to secretly stand guard at the rehab place to make sure he didn't leave.  The P.I.s stood guard 24/7.

Our sources say Lamar constantly threatened to leave and Khloe made several visits to prevail upon him to stay.  We're told after 3 weeks, Lamar left for good.

We're told Lamar actually stayed clean once he left rehab and was able to play well for the Clippers this past season.  But when the season was over, sources say Lamar slipped deep back into hardcore recreational drugs.

As far as Odom's alleged abuse of drugs, the problems are rooted in his family. His father, Joe, is a recovering heroin addict according to Odom and a statement he made on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Lamar’s father keeps calling and Lamar eventually gets transparent with the world, and shares his past about having a mother who passed away at a young age, as well as a father who was addicted to heroin. He explains,

“Our relationship is completely different from the normal father/son relationship. My father’s a heroin addict. I was six-years-old when my parents split up. I grew up with my mother and my grandmother. We lived in Queens in a rough neighborhood. I had my mother around until I was 12-years-old, she passed away. After that my father wasn’t around.

“I’ve witnessed things that a 10-year-old definitely wasn’t supposed to see. My father is somebody I’d do anything for, but yet I still won’t let get too close. It’s hard for me to really speak upon it and get through to Khloe because she grew up so different.”

Odom is definitely in a lot of pain and is looking for an outlet. Here's to hoping that he can address his issues, emerge from them and feel good about himself.
