NBA suspends Orlando’s Battie

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – Orlando Magic center Tony Battie has been
suspended for one game without pay for throwing an elbow in Saturday’s game
against Memphis.

In that contest, Battie was given a flagrant foul penalty two when making
contact with Pau Gasol’s head with his elbow.

Battie, who will serve his suspension Monday night versus Denver, is averaging
3.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in 16 games this season.

Battie was selected in the first round of the 1997 draft by the Denver Nuggets
with the fifth overall pick out of Texas Tech.
