(Sports Network) – Shane Battier hit four free throws in the final 19 seconds
to lift Memphis to a 72-68 victory over Detroit at FedEx Forum.

Pau Gasol scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Grizzlies to
their third win in four games. Earl Watson contributed 11 points and five
assists, while Lorenzen Wright narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with
nine points and 10 boards, as Memphis snapped a six-game losing streak to the
defending World Champions.

After Chauncey Billups sank two foul shots with 36 seconds left to tie the
score, Memphis’ Mike Miller launched a three-point attempt that caromed off
the rim. Hamilton was then called for grabbing Battier’s jersey in the
scramble for the rebound and the former Duke star made both bonus attempts to
put the hosts in front.

Detroit had two final chances, but Rasheed Wallace’s shot from beyond the arc
missed the mark and Tayshaun Prince had his putback effort blocked by Gasol
with five seconds on the clock. Battier pulled down the rebound and then
sealed the win by canning his final two foul shots.

The Grizzlies return to action on Monday when they hose the Cleveland
