Nuggets fire Bzdelik

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – The Denver Nuggets have fired coach Jeff
Bzdelik after two-plus seasons at the helm. Denver has struggled to a 13-15
start and is in the midst of a six-game slide.

The team has scheduled a 1:30 pm (et) press conference to reportedly make the
announcement. According to the Rocky Mountain News, assistant Michael Cooper
will take over on an interim basis.

Bzdelik, who was named the 17th coach in Nuggets’ history back on August 21,
2002, engineered one of the NBA’s greatest turnarounds last season. He guided
Denver to 43 wins and the team’s first postseason berth since 1995.

The Nuggets, who won just 17 games the previous season, had a 26-game
improvement during the 2003-04 campaign.
