Celtics sign first round pick Rondo

Rajon Rondo on Tuesday. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not

Boston used the 21st overall pick to draft Rondo, who averaged 11.2 points,
6.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and two steals in his sophomore season at the
University of Kentucky. The 6-1, 177-pound guard also was a member of the 2005
USA Men’s under-21 World Championship team that captured a gold medal at the
Global Games held in Dallas, Texas.

“Rajon is a terrific athlete who we feel has a chance to be a very special
player,” said Boston’s executive director of basketball operations Danny
Ainge. “He has the ability to make an impact on both ends of the court and his
speed and quickness will be a big asset to our team.”
