Wade, Okur awarded NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and Utah
Jazz’s Mehmet Okur were named the Players of the Week for their respective
Wade took home the Eastern Conference honors for the week ending February 4
after averaging 33.7 points, 7.3 assists and 6.0 rebounds while guiding his
team to a 3-0 record.
He netted 41 points, including a franchise-best 23 free throws made, in a
92-89 victory over Cleveland on February 1. He also had 32 points, 11 assists
and eight rebounds in a win over Milwaukee two days later.
Okur, meanwhile, averaged 26 points and 11.3 boards over three games to take
home the Western Conference award. He twice recorded 29 points and 12 rebounds
in wins over San Antonio and Phoenix.
