Adidas is to Hip Hop was pavement is to streetball.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Great song. Great kicks. Great idea.
This holiday season adidas Originals reaches back in a common theme these days to remember where urban apparel and street wear come from. Adidas celebrates the 1987 “Christmas in Hollis” single by RUN-D.M.C. as an iconic piece in hip-hop culture with special limited edition Superstar 80’s. Run-D.M.C. and adidas have a well known association dating back to the 80s when adidas ruled Hip Hop and Run-D.M.C. solidified this relationship with their legendary song "My Adidas."
The single, "Christmas in Hollis," was originally featured on the first of a series of A Very Special Christmas compilation albums with iconic cover artwork designed by artist Keith Haring. Over the course of 10 years, the album sold over 4 million copies in the U.S., becoming certified Quadruple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The iconic artwork is featured on the tongue label linking this classic style worn by RUN-D.M.C. to Keith Haring’s connection with New York City’s street culture in the 1980s.
Details: · Keith Haring artwork on tongue label · RUN-D.M.C. logo laser etched in midsole · RUN-D.M.C. branded insole
